Our CEO Ken Kortman threw down the gauntlet and issued a fitness challenge. He bet the whole Kortman team that no one could beat him in recording more steps walked in a week, putting a mystery prize on the line. It was a tough challenge, since some of our field team log 10,000 steps or more a day, just doing their jobs. Everyone knows Ken loves competition and wouldn’t make it easy for those who signed up.
Kortman’s benefits package includes a Wellness program. Go365 is provided to employees at no charge. It incentivizes employees to take a greater stake in their health by giving them the tools and support they need to live healthier lives—and rewards them for it. One of the many components of the program is step tracking where fitness watches, smartphones, or connected pedometers collect daily step counts and apply them to personal goals or competitive challenges.
Ken walked an impressive 82,272 steps. Ken lost.
After a hard-fought battle across the job sites, streets, sidewalks, and treadmills of Arizona, seven champions claimed victory over our CEO! The top four did 100,000 steps! In addition to their Wellness points awards, each victor received a crisp $100 bill and a restaurant gift card from Ken.
Congratulations to all the competitors who took part in the challenge. Be well!
