IP Television

Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) is a system where television or video content is delivered across an internet protocol session on a local area network (LAN) or internet / wide area network (WAN). When application-based devices are available (i.e., a smart TV/displays) and connected to a content delivery network (CDN) these services are provided via the internet. Another widely used method for commercial applications is to inject the video feed from the CDN into the local area network (LAN) and apply the use of a set-top box from the content provider (CDN Host).     

 An area of expertise from team Kortman is to deliver these services across a VLAN (virtual local area network) on a passive optical network (PON) alongside other internet of things (IoT) devices and applications. With a passive optical LAN infrastructure, we are less limited by network bandwidth allowing us to place more IoT devices on a single infrastructure. This includes not only IPTV, but also our other Audio Visual (AV) offerings, like paging systems, digital signage, and visual projection solutions.
