Intrusion detection systems can be designed to work independently of other premise solutions or in concert with them. Primary design elements for intrusion detection cover two key areas; property perimeter and building envelope. Addressing critical property perimeter protection can be carried out by motion sensing, fiber beds, gate contacts, or checkpoints. This is also a great opportunity to integrate with access controls for vehicle-gate or man-gate entry points. When managing a building perimeter several intrusion devices can be used including glass-break and access contacts for doors, hatches, turnstiles, motion sensors, and panic devices. Intrusion devices can be either hard-wired or wireless.
