CAT 6 has become the basic standard of structured cabling solutions. Simply put, it birthed the age of gigabit (Gb) bandwidth over copper. With the evolution of more internet protocol (IP) devices being used in commercial, industrial, and residential applications across a single enterprise network, category 6 is the new normal.
A great example of a cabling solution with a variety of subsystems and IP devices is a school. School buildings require a diverse set of cabling to manage everything from audiovisual equipment, access control, intercom, Wi-Fi, POE Lighting, VOIP (voice over internet protocol), and data needs.
